Applying for school

So yesterday, I sent in my application to a couple of schools. If luck is with me, I will be admitted to Fjölbrautaskólinn í Breiðholti, to attend their art course. I’m pretty excited for it! If that fails, I’ll hopefully make it to my backup-school - Tækniskólinn, for a base course in.. Electronic Engineering, I think it is. I’m not terribly sure if that’s the correct translation, but nuts to that.

So, I’ve been pretty busy preparing to do some studying and drawing and stuff! I’ve put my old desk in my room, and I’m amazed at how my productivity has gone up just by adding a comfortable place to work. I’ve been doing a bunch of sketching on paper, so you can expect to see some drawings when I finally drag the scanner to my room.

If I get into school this coming semester, it will be my third school (excluding everything before the end of 10th grade, which is when more freedom to choose different education enters the picture, here in Iceland). Let’s hope the third time’s the charm.

I’m feeling positive and excited.

The most addictive game

Late to the party, of course, but I have discovered the most addictive game. Imagine a first-person view of a randomly generated LEGO set: All rolling hills, archipelagos, cavernous mountains and vast forests.
Oh, and deadly creatures of the night have a habit of crawling out of the darkness. This means practically everywhere, during the nights. Not to mention the caverns that you’ll explore in search of precious resources (needed for such ambitious projects as minecart-systems spanning entire continents, superior tools and armor, and decorations for the huge castles that will end up dotting your landscapes), fumbling through the darkness.
Of course, you can make torches to ward off the foul beasts, but in order to to bring light to the bowels of the earth, you’ll have to step into the darkness.

Ever wonder what it’s like to lose a cache of treasures to a well-placed arrow in the side, sending you tumbling down underground chasms to a horrible fate of rotting beneath the earth? Well, that’s what you’ll get in Minecraft. It’s been eating my time up the last week or so, and I absolutely love it. I didn’t even mention the craftable items, exploding creepers or the multiplayer.
The game is still in the Alpha stage of development, but right now it’s selling for a measly €10. I bought it after the first night of playing the free weekend (the login servers for the game went down after a surge of popularity overwhelming the poor computers, leading to a few days of free gameplay) and I have no regrets. Even in its current unfinished state, it is one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I’ve experienced.

So now you know what’s been keeping me. Time to get back to drawing pictures.

Pressing the Get New Mail button or refreshing my Twitter stream is like pulling the crank on a slot machine. Did I win? No. Did I win? No.

So, Lord of the Rings Online is now free to play. I’m downloading it now to see if it’s any good. It looks like a pretty cool environment to role-play in, so I’ll be joining one of the RP-servers. Is anyone going to try this thing out?

I don’t use a single rule. I have one inbox. I treat them all the same way.

Such an excellent idea. This is my process now as well.
